Finding Objects

Finding objects is an important task at home, in a restaurant or in a shop. AISLA's close-hand object navigation modules make use of 3D cameras, computer vision and a variety of feedback modes such as speech, localised sound and haptics.

This video introduces the idea of the AISLA close-hand navigation module and the following videos feature some demonstrations of it being used. AISLA locates the objects of interest and the user's hand using the 3D camera and guides the hand to the object. Speech commands direct the user with words like 'Left' or 'Right'. Haptic feedback uses a vibrating wristband to guide the user.

In the children's party game, pin the tail on the donkey, the play must guess where the tail is while wearing a blindfold. In this video, AISLA guides the player's hand to the correct location using a vibrating haptic wristband.
